Meeting Attendance Expectations for Officers

It is the expectation that all voting officers will attend five board meetings a year.

  • Two are one day events generally scheduled early & late fall;
  • One is the day following Library Legislative Day in early winter (we hope that officers attend Library Legislative Day as well; but, it is not mandatory);
  • One is the first day of the annual conference in spring;
  • And the last is the annual planning retreat held in late May or early June in which the board conducts normal association business & does significant strategic planning for the rest of the year. At the board retreat all outgoing and incoming voting officers, persons reporting to the board, committee and interest group chairs also begin the preliminaries of conference planning for the following year and set the board dates.

Voting board officers may also be asked to attend special ad hoc committee meetings in their areas of responsibility. Some meeting functions can be accomplished via e-mail or conference calls but most are face to face.
