Board Position Descriptions

Incoming Chair/Chair/Chair Emeritus

This is a three-year position. Incoming Chair works with the Chair to learn about the position, and begin planning for their year as Chair.  Incoming chair is also responsible for helping the iSchool rep(s) with Booktalking the Best at WLA.  It is the responsibility of the Chair to secure an author/illustrator for the annual CAYAS breakfast for the WLA conference, they can begin planning during their time as Incoming Chair.  Chair also plans meetings, leads communication with the board and helps support board memebers in their responsibilities.  Chair Emeritus is responsible for elections, and beginning in 2019, will be responsible for the Visionary Award selection process.

Communications Officer

This is a two-year position. It is the responsibility of the Communications Officer to take notes at board meetings and section meetings, send out completed minutes in a timely fashion, update CAYAS webpages & manage social media accounts.

Board Position #1

This is a one-year position. This board member will be responsible for one event or workshop/training during their term (to be determined at the beginning of each year).  This board member will have the option to extend their term for a second year with approval from the board.

Board Position #2

This is a one-year position. This board member will be responsible for one event or workshop/training during their term (to be determined at the beginning of each year).  This board member will have the option to extend their term for a second year with approval from the board.

Board Position #3

This is a one-year position. This board member will be responsible for one event or workshop/training during their term (to be determined at the beginning of each year).  This board member will have the option to extend their term for a second year with approval from the board.

Board Position #4

This is a one-year position. This board member will be responsible for one event or workshop/training during their term (to be determined at the beginning of each year).  This board member will have the option to extend their term for a second year with approval from the board.

On-Campus/Distance Student Liaison

This can be a 1-2 year position, depending on the student’s schedule for graduation. This position may also be shared. The Student Liaison works with the Chair Emeritus to invite student presenters for Booktalking the Best at the WLA Conference. The Student Liaisons finds their replacement in the spring.
