Program Requirements for Potential Hosts
For the shadow session to be productive, it is necessary that the host be willing to provide explanations and answer questions as they go about their work. The shadower will be completely unobtrusive during reference interactions, but needs to be allowed to follow along, observing the transaction from start to finish. (However, an exception may be made in the case of patrons who are concerned about their privacy).

The exact length of the shadowing session will be arranged by those concerned, but should range from about 2-4 hours. The number of sessions, if more than one, will also be agreed upon. Once a shadowing session has been arranged, please notify RIG so we can keep track of program activity.

We ask that hosts remain available to participate for at least 1 year, at which time we will contact them regarding further commitment. If for any reason you must withdraw from the program before 1 year has passed, please contact us so we can remove you from our list.
