Technology Resources for Information Professionals



Bylaws

Article I: Name.
The name of the organization shall be Technology Resources for Information Professionals (TRIP).

Article II: Relationship.

This organization is an Interest Group of the Washington Library Association, as authorized by The Washington Library Association Bylaws. (Article XIII, Section 3.)

Article III: Purpose.

TRIP will provide the following:
  • Training on technology issues
  • A centralized forum for the exchange of ideas, particularly those involving the use of technology in libraries
  • An advisory group to the Library Council of Washington to help determine priorities for federal LSTA funds regarding technology
  • Provides advice, research and support for IT initiatives
Article IV: Membership.

Any member of the Washington Library Association may become a member of the Technology Resources for Information Professionals interest group. TRIP members may be asked by the Steering Committee chair to serve on or lead any TRIP standing subcommittee, except Nominations and Bylaws.

Article V: Officers.

Officers of TRIP shall be a Chair, a webmaster and a training coordinator. Any office may choose, by membership vote, to split the duties between two co-officers. Chair has the authority to appoint a Treasurer. Officers shall serve a one (1) year term. Officers may be re-elected.

Article VI: Steering Committee.

The Steering Committee shall be composed of the officers and two (2) members-at-large elected by the membership, and shall conduct all business pertaining to TRIP. Steering Committee members shall serve a two (2) year term. Members may serve three (3) consecutive terms. Steering Committee members who are appointed to complete a partial term may serve three (3) full consecutive terms if nominated and approved by the Steering Committee.

Article VII: Elections.

Election of Officers and Steering Committee members shall be conducted by ballot to the membership. Elections may be held via mail, membership meeting or electronically. Majority vote wins the seat.

Article VIII: Meetings.

TRIP members shall be encouraged to attend all TRIP meetings. Electronic forums may be used to conduct meetings. A minimum of three (3) business meetings of the Steering Committee, including the annual meeting, shall be held each year. An annual meeting shall be held in conjunction with the annual conference of the Washington Library Association. A minimum of two (2) meetings per year is required to be a Steering Committee member in good standing. A quorum consists of 50% of all members of the Steering Committee.

Article IX: Vacancies.

In the event of a vacancy in the Chair position, the Co-chair, if applicable, or Training Coordinator shall become the Chair. All other vacancies in Steering Committee offices or in other committees shall be filled by the Chair with the approval of the TRIP Steering Committee. Officers appointed to fill vacancies shall serve until the next regular election.

Article X: Amendments.

The bylaws may be amended by a majority vote through a mail ballot to the membership.
