How to Read Bills

Each bill is prefaced with its brief title, a listing of statutes being amended and/or deleted, and other related information. Like most legislatures, Washington’s indicates the effect the bill has on the current statutes by marking text to be deleted with strike through and new text with underlines. Entirely new language is preceded by the words.
