2020 WLA Elections

Elections are now open!

Step 1: Read through the candidate statements.
Step 2: Vote using our online ballot.

To access the voting form, you will need to log in to your WLA account. All current WLA members may vote for WLA Board positions, and ballots for WLA Divisions and Sections are restricted to current members of those groups. Our system will automatically recognize that you're a member of your respective groups. Winners will be announced September 25 in the WLA Wednesday newsletter, and incoming and outgoing leadership will be recognized at the Awards Reception on October 5 in Wenatchee. The new elected terms will begin January 1.

Are you looking for leadership experience to help with your career? Need a reason to meet new library people and expand your network? Want to give back to Washington's library communities? WLA wants you!

Nominations are open June 5 for all vacant 2020 WLA leadership positions, from the WLA Board of Directors to our Division and Section steering committees. If you have questions about any position, you may contact the WLA Office, or go the the current Board, Division, or Section roster to find contact information for the person that currently fills the position, or to whom the position reports. Please note that WLA Committee Chairs are appointed by the Board President and do not need to go through this election process.

Terms of office begin January 1, 2020, and are one year, unless otherwise noted.

To nominate yourself or another WLA member, please fill out the nomination form by August 20, 2019, with the candidate's name, employer or connection to libraries, email address and phone number.

All nominees should email their candidate statements and headshots to [email protected] by August 23. Statements should be approximately 250 words and should describe how your skills and experience make you the best candidate for the position. You may want to consider these guiding questions:

  • What skills would you bring to the position?
  • What qualifications make you a viable candidate for the position?
  • Where would you like to see WLA and the Division/Section in the future, and what would you do to move it toward that vision?

You may refer to the candidate statements from the 2019 WLA elections as examples. Please also include a professional headshot for use on the WLA website.
